Reading in 2023

20202021, 2022

Very SciFi/Fantasy focus this year, unintentionally! Great stuff when one is spending a lot of time waiting and can’t focus as much as one would like to.

A solid 26 of this year’s 52 are SF/Fantasy, and most are from series that I read back-to-back. These were interspersed with six titles of fiction & poetry, six of science, two biographies, and 12 graphic novels from the same series.

This list is a far cry from what I had planned on reading, so my list for 2024 is already seeded with a couple of biographies, books on mathematics and economics, and (dare I say it?) literature!

Science Fiction & Fantasy

Two relatively recent series to start things off

The Culture series

What an absolutely brilliant series! And of course, my new computer is called ‘mistake-not’

I’d read the Nights Dawn trilogy a long, long, time ago, so great fun reading it again…

…And ended up reading the Void trilogy as well

And a few other miscellaneous books. Project Hail Mary is brilliant, for the amount of physics he brings in

Fiction and Poetry

Science

Biography

Graphic Novel Series

Edge-of-the-seat stuff, with convoluted logic (I had to draw a diagram) and brilliant storytelling. Why is it backward, though?
